The duo of Róbert Kerényi Szigony and Attila Gyárfás seeks to develop a personal musical language that is rooted in the traditional music of the regions Ghimes and Moldova (Romania) and driven by the creative use of free improvisation. Róbert Kerényi Szigony plays the shepherd's flute and is a well-known collector and performer of Hungarian and Romanian folk music. Attila Gyárfás is a jazz drummer primarily focusing on free improvisation and on researching the tonal possibilities of his instruments. Because of Róbert's deep interest in improvisation and Attila's inventive use of preparations, extended techniques, and electronics on the gardon – a traditional stringed percussion instrument – the duo is able to perform folk songs and dance rhythms from Ghimes and Moldova in ways that have never been heard before.
